The 2016 Penner-Ash Willamette Auction wine is a blend of three distinctive vineyards from the Yamhill-Carlton and Eola-Amity Hills AVAs. In the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, we sourced from our own Penner-Ash Estate and the celebrated Shea Vineyards; from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, we sourced from the renowned Zena Crown Vineyard. All three vineyards are planted on both volcanic and sedimentary soils, producing wines with spice, vibrant fruit, and savory mouthfeel. The blending of these grapes has created a dark-fruited wine with notes of dark chocolate and well-integrated, velvety oak. Sweet and lush on entry with a nice weighted texture to the finish.
Founded in 1998 by wife-and-husband team Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars embodies the spirit and passion of a boutique producer specializing in Pinot noir, Syrah and Riesling from the northern Willamette Valley. With a portfolio spanning the seven major AVAs of the Willamette Valley, Penner-Ash sources from some of the region’s most distinguished vineyards, including the Shea Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton, the Bramble Hill Vineyard in Ribbon Ridge and the Zena Crown Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills.
