The Wine

Cuvée Lucille, named in honor of our powerful, spirited daughter, is selected from the best barrel of wine from each vintage. In 2016, a barrel of Temperance Hill rose above the rest. The Temperance Hill Vineyard is nestled on the crown of the Eola-Amity Hills, exposed to cool afternoon marine breezes that define the wines and contribute to late ripening. Dai Crisp has farmed this site since 2000 and has transformed it into one of the most respected sites in the Valley, farming organically. The 2016 Cuvée Lucille sings of the savory qualities we have come to expect from this high-elevation Eola–Amity Hills vineyard with signature dried sage, rosemary blossom, crushed raspberry and mountain huckleberry. The wine has beautiful elegance and density with high-toned fruit and ripe polished tannins, finishing with juicy acidity and a complex depth given to the wine by the 26-year-old vines of this block. This fruit was 100% destemmed and then aged for 15 months in a once-filled Chassin barrel.

The Winery

Walter Scott is a small winery founded in 2008 by partners Ken Pahlow and Erica
Landon after years of living, studying and working within the Oregon wine industry. Our focus is to produce wines of elegance and purity, while conveying transparency of site and character of vintage. The winery is located in the Eola-Amity Hills just over an hour south of Portland, surrounded by some of the Willamette Valley’s most historic vineyards and overlooking the Cascade Range.
