The Wine

Our wines are crafted 100% from our single-vineyard estate. We harvest, ferment and barrel down each vineyard block separately. Each wine we bottle is a barrel selection. Our approach is to make these selections blind, with no consideration given to geology, clone, rootstock, fermentation or cooperage. Final selections are usually a mix of these influences. However, periodically a single block ends up being the selection. This is the case once again for our 2016-vintage auction lot. It is 100% winery block from a special hilltop location at 650 feet in elevation, planted to Clone 777 on RG rootstock.

The Winery

Alloro Vineyard is 70 acres of uniquely contoured, loess-derived Laurelwood soil. Located on a southwest-facing slope in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains, this special place is the heart and soul of our wines, cared for by owner David Nemarnik. We are 100% estate, crafting all our wines from our sustainable single-vineyard site. Our Burgundy-trained, UC Davis–educated winemaker, Tom Fitzpatrick, believes that a wine should be an "expression of place, at a moment in time" and should therefore capture the unique personality of a site as it is expressed in each vintage.
