The Wine

The core of Halliday's Hillside is the 1.5-acre Halliday Hill block overlooking Brick House on Ribbon Ridge. We have farmed this block since 2006 for our dear friends Jim and Karen Halliday. The block is an integral part of our 30-acre Biodynamic estate plantings. Year in and year out, this small east-facing locale at an elevation of 500 feet has produced some of our finest wines. To round out the Halliday’s Hillside blend, we have included a small, selected portion of wine from several adjoining blocks of the Brick House vineyard.

Because it has produced such outstanding fruit over the years, we decided in 2018 to crop this small block at just one cluster per shoot for the first time. With such a low yield the wine speaks profoundly of place. Intense dark red fruit is layered on a frame of supple tannins. The wine displays equal portions of earth and spice with just a hint of new oak cooperage. Drinking well now, the Halliday’s Hillside blend will cellar for years to come.

The Winery

Brick House Wine Company is dedicated to producing wines grown in harmony with nature. This year we are celebrating 30 years of organic viticulture. We are 100% estate growers, producing all our wines on our 40-acre farm. Like the Halliday’s Hillside blend, all our wines are bottled by hand in the old horse barn in the middle of our vineyard that serves as our winery. We obtained Demeter Biodynamic certification in 2005 and retain that status to this day. We cherish the natural purity of our wines, all produced by a truly indigenous yeast with minimal intervention by the winemaker.
