The Wine

Sourced from sister blocks on the estate vineyard, Gemini is a blend of complementary contrasts. The original vines, planted in 1984, produce clusters with consistency and elegance, whereas the vines planted in 1995 are on a steep hillside, yielding fruit with breadth and character. Growing up on the vineyard, Kim and Becky Kramer developed a fundamental understanding of these two sites—the slopes, the soils, the flavors in the field and in the cellar. That inherent knowledge led the siblings to develop their first cuvée, a Pinot noir that reflects their duality and personality.

Sourced from our original planting of Pinot noir in 1984, blended with wine from our steepest hillside planted in 1995, the Pinots from our estate are elegant and balanced with a history of graceful aging in the cellar. The 2018 vintage is especially strong in this regard, with great carpentry for longevity. Find aromas of black raspberries, rose petal, tobacco, peat moss and forest floor. The wine is bright and juicy on the palate, with youthful tannins, dark berry fruits, cola, violets and a spicy, long finish.

The winery

Kramer Vineyards is a family–owned and operated winery nestled in the hills of Gaston, Oregon. First planted in 1984 by Keith and Trudy Kramer, the 22-acre estate has 27 different blocks with 9 grape varieties. Second-generation winemaker Kim Kramer creates a variety of handcrafted wines from estate-grown fruit including sparkling wines, Chardonnay, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot noir and Carmine.
